Meet The Newly Elected Ethiopian First Female President
Sahle-Work Zewde has
been chosen Ethiopian president by individuals from parliament.
However, being the
first lady to hold such post, her election came hours after previous President
Mulatu Teshome surrendered from office.
In June 2018,
Sahle-Work was named by the United Nations Secretary-General as his Special
Representative to the African Union, and Head of the United Nations Office to
the African Union at the level of Under-Secretary-General.
Teshome offered his
abdication to parliament on Wednesday.
