2018 List of Politicians Banned from Travelling Outside Nigeria




The federal government of Nigeria has banned not less than 35 politicians and ex-military chiefs from travelling outside the nation.


Under the Executive Order 6 (EO6), president Muhammadu Buhari, has barred most politicians, military chiefs and former public office holders from travelling out of the country.

According to a statement released by the presidential aide, Garba Shehu on Saturday, 13 October 2018, president Muhammadu Buhari has mandated the attorney general of the federation and minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, to implement the EO6 in full force.

According to TheNation, a number of enforcement procedures are ongoing, through which the Nigeria Immigration service as well as other security agencies have placed the persons affected by EO6 on watch list and restricted them from from leaving this country until after determination of their cases.

However, according to the presidency, the financial transactions of the aforementioned persons are being monitored by relevant agencies, to ensure that the assets are not dissipated and such persons do not interfere with, nor howsoever corrupt the investigation and litigation processes.
